6 Questions with Michele Casertano, Founder of Blue Crew Jobs

12. November 2015

Michele Casertano is the CEO of Blue Crew Jobs, a platform that connects employers and employers based on schedules and passions.

1.First of all, can you tell us a little about your role and what you do at BlueCrew?

Currently I work as the CEO of BlueCrew. In my role I work mainly with the business development team to work on our growth strategy and I collaborate with my other 2 co-founders on the technical development of the company.

In my role, I am in charge of the relationship with the investors and tracking the company KPIs. Pretty much if it is not a standard task, I do try to do it.

2: What do you know about recruiting that few others know?

In the world of staffing customers tend to complain of the quality of the labor they receive, but the issue is that the price point they are offering is too low. Customers that pay more per hour tend to receive better workers and be happier customers.

3. What are some of the mistakes you have made with BlueCrew that other founders can hopefully learn from?

We were having some organizational challenges at the beginning of our company that were not allowing us to start serving our first client. While we were waiting for the correct documentation to be available, we kept developing the product.

This lead to an initial over design and over coding of features that we quickly had to scrap.
My advice would be to build less and sell more.

4. Let’s talk you – what apps, software, and tools can’t you live without?

Google Analytics and company KPI tracking. Using data is the only way to take informed business and product development decisions. Spotify. I really need some fresh EDM when I work.

5. What’s your best time-saving shortcut or life hack?

No meeting Wednesday. Taking no meeting once a week allows me to be focused on completing all those littles tasks that I would otherwise not take care of.

6. What resource have you watched/read/listened to that’s had the biggest impact on your business/life so far this year, and why?

Design for Extreme Affordability -> A Stanford University class about empathic design and serving the bottom of the pyramid. I started my first company out of that class and it pushed me to keep working as an entrepreneur.
